Capoeira is a game, but the game is best understood as a dialogue. Not a dialogue of language, but rather an exchange of expressions and movements between two people. To succeed in a Capoeira dialogue, we must learn to practice discipline and patience in order to navigate all diagloges. A Capoeira dialogue also seeks synchronicity by constantly reinforcing harmony within ourselves, our opponent and our surrounding environnment. The Capoeira dialogue takes place within the roda (meaning circle and pronounced Ho-da) which mimics our daily, often chaotic lives. Within the roda, Capoeira teaches us to find mental calm so that we can begin to physically unravel and disentagle situations back to a place of balance.
